Walking to class, in class, in the library, everywhere you look you will see someone listening to their iPod. In 2001 when they were introduced to us everyone wanted to get one of these sleek music players, no matter how the economy was, the sales for iPods did not seem to decline demand was always in.

Many still have the first generation of iPod that came out in 2001 and say that they have no intension of buying the latest iPod because they still work as when the first day that they bought it. With that being said is to be Apple’s new problem that their products have a long life use. Sales for iPods have gone down, to help bust sales Apple has been offering a free iPod touch with a purchase of one of their Macintosh computers.

Holiday Forecast

As we all know the holiday season is among us, with Thanksgiving done and over with we all await the wonderful sales that black Friday has to offer. But how much is a household willing to spend this holiday season with the way our economy is going. Analysts expect lower holiday shopping forecast, analysts have seen a 2.4 percent (Thomson Reuters).

One of the biggest chain retainers, Wal-Mart reported a 7 percent fall from the last twelve months. C.Britt Beemer, chief exec officer and founder of America’s Research Group, estimates that sales will decrease by 3.5 percent to his 1 percent in mid-November. Gift card sales are said to go down by 6 percent from last year (National Retail Federation).

Thanks to all the thanksgiving weekend sales that many stores and web sites had to offer, there was an increase in what a shopper was spending over the weekend from last years $347.55 to this years $372.57, total reaching an estimated $41 billion. Though the sales may not last economists are encouraging to go out and shop and help bust the economy.

For those that do no like the idea of going out in the fridge cold to go to the stores on-line shopping has many special sales that may not be offered at the store. I know that I have done my fair share of on-line shopping and you can not go wrong with it; there are no long waits in line, better offers, many stores offer free wrapping and the convenience of shopping from your home, with all this I do no think you can go wrong.

Families Strain to Pay College Tuition.

This article caught my attention for the reason that we are college student and many are paying tuition by themselves or our parents are helping pay our tuition. Getting a loan now is harder than ever with our economy having it the way it is now. With unemployment rates rising and a recession coming our way, banks do not want to take a risk.

Many four-year universities have stated that they have not found a problem because families have found alternate ways of paying for tuition, since financing for the fall semester was done months before the credit crisis had occur upon us.

Pump It Up.

I came across an article that has affected many of us this past year and that is the cost at the gas pump. Those of us that happen to have a car here at school and drive around have noticed the drop in price at the pump. The cost of a gallon of gasoline has dropped more than ten cents, since Friday and has gone below three dollars a gallon.

Consumers hope that with drop in price people will be more willing to drive or fly for the holidays.
